I started reading Continuous Deployment by Valentina Servile. The book opens with an explanation of what CI, CD, and DevOps actually are. It reminded me once again that many people think of CI/CD only in terms of the pipeline, not the mindset behind it. You can have the most sophisticated automated pipeline and still gain nothing if your team plans around releases and fix versions in Jira tickets.

Automation like this needs to go hand in hand with reducing bureaucracy for developers. I have worked on projects where we integrated and sometimes deployed multiple times a day. But I have also seen projects where every single integration required its own ticket.

Apart from that, there is little time this week for smaller side projects. We are currently renovating the children’s room, and whatever time is left goes into that.
